may have a new member in the near future.. downtown or City Center appears to be organizing and could become one of the City's most influential hoods.. Consider that it will encompass the vast majority of the City's downtown office space and businesses (not to mention City Hall itself) and have allies such as the Downtown Partnership. They are smartly incorporating which may allow them to raise money (tax write offs for membership- and there are PLENTY of deep pockets in the CBD) which could include many of the downtown property owners, apartments complexes, and businesses. Its inhabitant will likely be dominated by young professionals in renovated apartments.. with higher incomes... who, if they take an interest, could blog.. tweet, and organize a few well timed Happy Hours to mobile themselves to confront the City on a variety of levels. In a city where the "Shrieky" Wheel... not squeaky....... Shrieky Wheel is more likely to get the grease.. Having the likes of the Maryland Medical Center, Downtown Partnership, and corporate property owners along with well positioned developers in portfolio could help advance many a cause and direct the allocation of municipal resources...especially if these entities feel that by belonging it could advance their own self interest and get some positive PR for being INVOLVED with their community.. Watch out Roland Park.......
