For many years, black people were excluded from programs, jobs, education, anything that aided in acquiring wealth. If my great grandparents were not allowed to own a home, obtain education, or increase wealth by means of job promotion, it's no wonder that my white counterparts are doing better. It's not their fault. They were not born. I think the black community need to do more to address the economic disparities that are one of many repercussions of slavery and the years that followed. We can start with ensuring our children are properly educated. My personal belief is home schooling. Not everyone can afford such a luxury. At the very least, please, know what your kids proficiency is and what it should be for they're level of education. If they are behind, find out why and what you can do to get them were they need to be.

Then came the Great Society, Civil Rights Act, and the soft-discrimination abomination of affirmative action which conveyed the mindset of eternal victimhood and perpetual entitlement, and we see where those philosophies have gotten us societally.

*You don't know what you're talking about!!!

*Old man, a wannabee Jared Taylor. Please Please stay in your lane!!! You don't want to trot down this proverbial road with me when it comes to discussing so-called, "eternal victimhood and perpetual entitlement." You know nothing of the African/Black American Experience in the US to even make such an idiotic statement. If you're taking your intellectual viarga from the likes of Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Micheal Savage (who I actually like because of his sharp scientific mind) or anything AEI and other racist conservative think tanks you jerk off too.

Uncle Sugar (LBJ) didn't do you folks any favors when he told the women not to bother pursuing the baby daddies for support because the "gubmint" would provide the support.

And then the $$$ trillions in reparations AKA War on Poverty. How'd that work out?

I don't need Limbaugh and that bunch to tell me facts that are as large and obvious as Obama's ears, based on decades of observation and data, e.g., the black single parent rate rocketed from 25% in '63 to 75% today, and the white rate also tripled 8% to 25% since Uncle Sugar's Great Society. When a group in power has proclaimed a group as "victims" -- all for votes of course -- it's hard to erase that mindset.

*Hmmmmmm... Better yet, look where white supremacy, white privilege and hegemony has gotten US society and civilization in general. It's been absolutely great for some white civilization and disastrous for non-white societies.

MsBuddyGirl,

History is complex! So, don't let some of these whites (and blacks in white mask), with their antiquated thought processes, derail you from reaching for truth and understanding.

There is all sort of empirical data dating back to the inception of this stolen land on the policies, programs and institutionalized marginalization that most Americans (white and black) aren't interested in knowing. Many are ignorant and in denial about America's past and how they are played out in contemporary society. When you bring up places like Black Wall Street, Rosewood, and other communities like this that provide historical evidence where Blacks controlled some aspects of their existence and never asking for handouts from whites, people are astonished.
