1) Is the drive from Severna Park to Annapolis worse than it seems on Mapquest ? It seems like about 15 minutes. Are the roads very traffic-clogged on Route 2 (Ritchie Highway) ?
2) What about the commute from Severna Park to Johns Hopkins Hospital/Bloomberg School of Public Health. Looks to be about 35-40 minutes. Are the roads horribly clogged with traffic there, or would that commute be about accurate ? 3) Are there any areas of Anne Arundel County that are a bit closer to Baltimore than Severna Park (even 5-10 minutes closer) decent/safe/nice/reasonably affordable areas ? Thanks ! |

1-I go the opposite direction on Ritchie Highway, but it's pretty clear in that direction and probably in the other direction as well (starting where 100, 170 and 2 meet).
2-it will probably be 50-60 minutes. It will take probably 15-20 to get downtown , and then you will sit in downtown traffic the rest of the time (whether going in or out). 3-if you just start in severna park and drive 5-10 minutes towards baltimore, you will be in reasonably safe and priced areas I think. On the east side of the airport it stays okay until north of 695 or so. I don't know about west of it. |

Severna Park to Annapolis is no more than 15 minutes...depending on where in SP and where in Annapolis. It's generally not bad. 5 minutes north of SP is Pasadena and Glen Burnie...many parts of those towns are fine, some parts are less fine. Odenton is a bit north/north-west of SP and is off of Rt 32 -- that might work for you, too.

Busy: SP is about 15 minues from Naptown, and probably 30 minutes from Hopkins. The secret is to take Rt. 10 to the Beltway to get North. It's a pretty easy commute. You will like Severna Park, by the way, it's a pretty nice place to live. It has without doubt the best schools in AA County.

You could try Pasadena (Stay away from Green Haven though). From there you can take 100 and jump onto 97 to get to Annapolis or 695.
