Considering possible relocation to Bel Air, MD for family of 4. Many of the more descriptive threads on this area are from several years ago so was hoping to get updated insight on the area - from my research it seems like one of the best areas in Harford County (though we are open to other suggestions in the County as well). Family of 4 - looking for safe, family-friendly neighborhoods, good schools. Are there areas of Bel Air that are best? Areas to avoid? Are people friendly? Are there many transplants or are most people born and raised here? Just trying to get a feel for the culture & if it will be a good fit. Regarding Baltimore, do people feel safe visiting the city anymore - Inner Harbor, sports stadiums? We have previously lived in New Jersey, PA and Massachusetts. Looking for a good place to settle & raise our family!

Bel Air has gotten a lot bigger, a lot wealthier, and a lot more diverse in the past 20 years and continues towards that trend. It's a friendly, if not somewhat insulated community.

As for visiting Bmore for culture and events? Yeah its not much different than going to Providence or Philly or Newark for the same thing. Lock your car and don't be dumb.

We may be rreloacting from jersey to Maryland as well, and have been looking at Bel Air. We have 3 young children and are too looking to settle. Hoping to get some honest opinions as far as schools and safety.

Belair is OK. Just avoid the city of Baltimore if you are smart!
