Default A few questions about Baltimore

Hello I have been reading through these boards and have a few questions. My wife is getting transfered to the city and we have been looking online at the Patterson Park area. Are the row houses like apt. living? Can you hear everything your neighbor does through the shared walls? Can you BBQ and use a smoker on your back deck in the city? Are there any neighborhood taverns (not upscale) left in this area? Any help would be great! Thanks Kevin

Well, let's take these one by one:
The homes are not like apartment living. They are solid with a couple of layers of brick between them. I never hear my neighbors and they are Sicilian. (Probably shouldn't have said that). They mention that they hear my dogs howl when I leave for work though.
You can use a BBQ and smoker in the yard. Many do.
Yes, there are still some neighborhood taverns in the area.

---A good source for more information is the ppcdc.org
We also have an excellent neighborhood association that meets monthly and plans events like happy hour get togethers, etc.
Patterson Park Neighborhood Association

There is also a web site for the park itself called the Friends of Patterson Park.

I mentioned this on another thread but today's Baltimore Sun has a good article about Patterson Park. I think you can read it on-line.
