Anyone have a recommendation for a Good Dermatologist in the Baltimore area that is currently taking new patients?? (For Acne)
I was thinking Hopkins but I am not really sure. I tried to look at the list for Baltimore Top Docs online, but I am not so sure that is current. I am seeking a prescription for Accutane if that matters.

My daughter is happy with this group. She sees Dr. Gwynn. Maybe 15-20 min from Baltimore City.

Here is the name of a fantastic Dermatologist who treated many family members, and yes, he prescribed Accutane for acne. I don't know if you are aware, but on Accutane, you have to have liver function studies done every month or so, and if a female, of course, a pregnancy test. You have to take a pregnancy test because Accutane can cause birth defects that are quite horrible.

The result from Accutane in a family member was nothing short of a miracle drug. To date, the acne is still gone and their skin is still beautiful. Before Accutane, the acne was horrendous. We actually thought that plastic surgery was going to be needed, but Accutane worked miracles.

Dr. Wong is fantastic and has a fantastic demeanor. If you have to travel a bit, he is worth it.

I like Dr. Gwynn, even though the actual visit with her, once you see her, is lightning speed. I swear she was in and out in less than 1 minute. Speed, speed, speed. However, the wait time before your appointment is painfully long. They must triple book patients.

The problem is, the receptionists are the worst. I tried to make an appointment, and they insisted I wasn't a patient there! I said I know I am, then she said I must have been there over 5 years ago, which is not true. I looked at a prescription bottle I had from there, and I had been there 3 years prior. Still insisted I wasn't in their system.

Said I could start out as a new patient, but could not get in until over 3 months later, even though it was to get a suspicious mole checked out. I said if it's cancerous, it's important to get in early. The receptionist challenged me, "Do you know if it's cancerous? How do you know?" Duh! I don't know! That's the whole point!

My husband recommended his dermatologist, Dr. Wong, and they were able to fit me in the following Monday! I was glad I did. Dr. Wong is great. He will take the time to listen to you, and won't recommend anything invasive unless he strongly believes it's necessary. In fact, he will advise you against it, even if you are paranoid about it. Plus, his receptionist is incredibly friendly. For contact info, see Midge2914's post above. She is right Dr. Wong is great.
