I am moving to Baltimore and considering buying a Rowhouse. What would be the BEST area to look for a rowhome in Baltimore. I have a budget between $199,900 to $299,900, I really don't want to exceed 274,900. I am looking for a 3br/2ba place. I know crime is an issue in Baltimore, but I have lived in worst places, but I really would like an nice area, trendy if possible, but a rowhouse no doubt, could someone please give me some possible locations.

This is a good first step. There are some homes for that price in the neighborhood of Patterson Park. Perhaps Hampden also. |

Woodbury may also be a nice choice, there are a nice restaurant nearby and a local artists' studios at Clipper Mill. If you work downtown there is also a light rail stop. This neighborhood is just west of hamden

Visit Pigtown -- we have lots of homes in your price range and a tight-knit friendly community. Very convenient to 95/295 and a short walk to the University of Maryland and downtown.

I am big on the streets behind the Jewish Community Center off Park Heights -- streets like Jonquil, Narcissus, Gist and Menlo. These are well built houses in an area that is coming back. Many qualify for closing cost aid.

Try looking at Federal Hill and Locust Point. Both are nice, relatively safe areas close to plenty of restaurants and activities. Just for fun, I was just browsing the real estate listings today in that area (21230 zip code) and there are some real deals out there. It's probably like that everywhere, but neighborhoods like these offer some great starter homes for those that like city living.

I would recommend you consider Otterbein. Like Federal Hill, Ridgely's Delight, and Pigtown, Otterbein is located close to downtown. It's a gorgeous neighborhood that's often overlooked. You might struggle to find a rowhouse in your price-range there, but's worth the look. Last edited by 7th generation; 04-04-2008 at 07:01 AM. |

You should look at Hampden. There are homes within that price range, and it's safe and what I would consider trendy.
