Baltimore's 1968 riots
Last weekend, the University of Baltimore sponsored a retrospective on the riots that followed in Baltimore after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination in 1968. Some 400 people attended. The program was varied. In addition to reports and discussions, films and videos were shown. There were dance and dramatic performances.
This workshop was eficiently run and extremely well received. Academics said it was unusual for its lack of grandstanding. I certainly learned a lot about why Baltimore today is what it is.
The University of Baltimore will have a follow-up in May. More details later, if there is interest.
