Dundalk gets a bad rap; only some of it is deserved. My grandparents lived there. It's definitely blue collar and can seem a little backwards. There's some crime in some areas but most areas are okay. It's not particularly a pretty place, as there are a number of industrial spots there. If you're coming from Williamsburg, which I know has turned into a hipster area...well, Dundalk ain't hip. Not by a long shot. If you want to live in the County and are concerned about schools, there are better suburbs, though I think Dundalk Elementary is supposed to be okay. If you're looking to buy a place, Dundalk is still fairly affordable.

Definitely not by Turner Station...They give Dundalk bad rap lol

you can try Bear Creek area, along North point towards Sparrow Pts..and some other area. It's definitely a lot blue collar but it's definitely changing.

Dayvillage rents certainly look very affordable.
Dundalk is an intriguing proposition. It is an aging blue-collar community that has always had an image problem. To counter that, it has a subscription society that sponsors concerts. We went to an ambitious student performance of "The Beauty and the Beast" at a high school there recently. It had ROTC honor guards and the whole blue-collar patriotic shtick. Dundalk also has one of the biggest Fourth of July parades in the region, a festivity that lasts for two days.
I know absolutely nothing about the condition of a 1950s apartment development like Dayvillage. But elsewhere along the waterfront similar developments have been razed in recent years after they became problematic.
The most upscale single-family homes in Dundalk, near the town center, were built by the Roland Park Company, which was Baltimore's premier developer from the 1890s until the 1940s. Some are very nice.
During the recent real estate craziness, Dundalk also went crazy. Rowhouses in St. Helena, a pocket that is actually within the city limits even though it is relatively close to the Dundalk town center, zoomed from, perhaps, $40,000 to well over $100,000 on speculation that the nearby waterfront would be the next to gentrify. That was just plain unreal.
Dundalk has lots of new and used car lots, bars where steelworkers at the end of their shifts used to get drunk at 7 a.m. and a lot of cemeteries. If you want to get a feel about Dundalk, google Dundalk Eagle, the local paper.

Wink Turners Station

T.S. is not a bad place at all. I moved here from the city when I was about 5 and this is a good community. Now as far as the schooling, could be better. Over all T.S. is a quiet place. Day Village is kind of dead [meaning nothing really happens around there] but I live up top where all the old people at. They just recently put a house on the market a couple of doors down from me for about $30,000 AS IS. It has three floors and a yard. If your still looking its in Turners Station on Chestnut Street No i dont sell houses, my mom told me so im tellin you.

What part of Dundalk/Turner's Station you look at, along with your racial heritage, will determine whether you are comfortable, etc. Personally I avoid both.
