So if there are 15 fights in Ocean City on a weekend it gets normed to the 10,000 permanent residents to give you a number of 150/100,000. The fact that any given summer weekend there will find a temporary population of 300,000 isn't taken into account.

political correctness forces them to term black on white attacks where the attacked person doesn’t even raise a hand in self defense as a ‘fight’

Ocean City is for the most part still a safe place to visit but the numbers of violent incidents are on the rise. Everybody enjoys a trip to the beach, Ocean City has more "action" because of it's size and amenities and attracts more young people than beach communities nearby such as Bethany/Rehoboth/Lewes which purposely attracts more family oriented visitors. Your beach vacation can easily be ruined in Ocean City if other hotel/motel guests aren't consider of others. If Ocean City was a cruise line, it would most resemble Carnival Cruise Lines.

It is but you know that appearance is reality.

I think that they type of middle class people who normally would have vacationed in OC in the 80's,90's, and 00's probably now opt for beaches in Delaware or further south. Many families even choose Deep Creek Lake for a quick getaway.

Or they do what many have for a long time and vacationed absolutely nowhere near the boardwalk.

You always stayed further up.

When we would go down there 50 years ago we never stayed near the boardwalk.

And I am sure it's changed, but the exaggerations on here are just that.
