I was wondering if anyone can give me his opinion regarding the feasibility of a daily morning/evening walk from Lee Street to W. Baltimore street?

Is it safe and doable for a fit person? or will one go through bad patches and really needs to do it by car?

Any input would be appreciated, as I am considering moving near the harbor but walking to work everyday and back if I finish early...

Even though you don't specify where on Baltimore Street, the walk is perfectly safe. Lee is one of my favorite streets, with its canopy of trees. Forty years ago it was one of the city's first dollar house projects. All those structures were vacant and about to fall down, when they were auctioned off to $1 each to buyers who pledged to rehabilitate them to code within a certain time period. There were up and downs. Some buyers found contractors who knew what they were doing, others were scammed. The rest is history.

How far on West Baltimore Street? If the address is in the low numbers, that means it's downtown, and the walk is very doable. Lee Street is beautiful. The walk from there to downtown would be easy and safe.

nope-----650 is 6 blocks west of Charles. You are still dowtown. The addresses go out from the corner of Charles and Baltimore. That area is perfectly fine to walk, in fact, enjoyable. I do it daily.

Definitely still doable. I'm just guessing but I think it'd be about a 20 minute walk.

Thanks a lot guys, that is very reassuring for me.

jonjj: Can you tell me the directions for the best (safest) way to get from E. Lee Street to 650 W Baltimore ST, because that is where I will be working daily. I looked on the map on google and I can't make my mind up on how to go about it street by street. Thanks a lot in advance :-)

sobo16: 20 mins walk is great for me, as I won't have time to hit the gym!

Once you see the area, it will be rather simple. Just walk up any street due north to Baltimore and make a left. It really isn't that far at all and it's an enjoyable walk. Maybe stick to Charles Street until you realize that it doesn't really matter in terms of safety as all those streets in that area will have lots of people about.
