We try to hit as many free concerts as possible. Gets us out of the house and we can take a picnic, or buy food at the site. The following are my thumb nail sketches of venues we visit:
PATTERSON PARK -- A great band, The Blue Skies, tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Pagoda. They do 1930s and 1950s swing. People bring their own chairs and food, although there is food available from vendors and you can sit on the lawn. Check WYPR for details and further concerts.
LURMAN THEATER -- A natural ampitheater in Catonsville. Great variety of music each Saturday and Sunday. $2 hot dogs and $1 sodas, or bring your own. Here is the schedule

BELVEDERE SQUARE -- This place is amazing every Friday night. A thousand people milling around. Several vendors, Daedulus discount books around the corner. Great for people watching. Dr. Peter Beilenson, carrying a son on his shoulders, was there Friday.
THE QUARRY -- We went there on Sunday. This is a new venue, a development built around an old Greenspring Avenue quarry, which is slowly filling with water. Another amazing place. Everyone seemed to know one another. Lots of hugging and kissing. Noisy. It was like a bar mitzvah. I don't know about the rest of the schedule but Big Cam and the Lifters, a pretty good rockn roll band, is coming July 20.
