Default bel air

Hi. I have lived in Harford County all my life. The area is very nice, my kids are in private schools, same one's I attended years ago. If you live in Baltimore the Bel Air area is much safer/clean. Are you looking for acreage? Andy-Bel Air.

I am also looking to move to Bel Air, MD and your threads helped me to understand the area. My main concern is the weather. I currently live in Chicago and the weather sucks. I don't want to move to another place where it is cold 9 months out of the year. Any information on the weather?

sebrooks,

Harford County has great weather if you love all 4 seasons. They are very apparent in the area: Hot summers (in the 85-95 degree range for the most part) and cold winters (30-45 degree range for the most part). Harford County is a great place to live.

Default Weather contrasts

Yes, Harford has the best weather in the country, maybe even in the world. It will soon have five -- or even six seasons. Baltimore City, on the other hand, has the second worst weather in the country. You never quite know what it will be like. (Just overlay Bob Turk's weather map with Baltimore homicide map and you will see what I'm talking about. Little known but amazing).
My advise is to move at least to Baltimore County because weather there is better. But no one can beat Harford County weather.

Default 1962

Hello,

I lived in Darlington for a while in 1962.
I assumed I went to Bel Air High during that time (sophomore year), but, I
can't seem to find any records.
Would anyone know what school someone who lived Darlington would have been bused to 45 yrs ago?
Appreciate any help.

Ken Jones

Default I grew up in Bel Air...

and boy has it changed. It used to have that small town feel but it defintely isn't that way anymore. I moved out of Harford County to Baltimore County about 6 years ago. Talk about jumping out of the pan and into the fire! The problem with Harford and Baltimore County is there are just too many people for the roads. Traffic is getting worse and worse...we are actually thinking of moving out of state now....especially with the base reallignments and resulting greater influx of people. The only upside is our home values will remain steady and even increase. I'm looking for a place to raise my kids like Bel Air 20+ years ago. Such a place just may not exist.

Aberdeen and Edgewood I would stay away from. There's a gang problem in Edgewood now. Many adult stores and bars along the Rte 40 corridor.

Good school districts isn't the best way to go in MD (I learned the hard way) since MD's answer to No Child Left Behind is to bus kids from failing schools to the blue ribbon schools. Good idea in theory but it hasn't really worked.

You will find a large selection of rentals in Abingdon, zip code 21009. Abingdon is next to Bel Air. Google rentals in Abingdon, Maryland and you'll find many choices.
