Being hillbillies at heart, we drove to Carroll Park tonight to hear a West Virginia bluegrass band. That concert must have been last night because we never found it. But the park was full of activity, with sports teams playing.
We lived On Union Square 1989-2000 and I don't think I ever saw the park busy. The downtown skyline view from Carroll Mansion, by the way, is quite stunning. |

The park does look great and is getting more use than I've ever seen in the 19+ years that I've lived here.
One caveat, though, (and I know it's not just Carroll Park) - people walk their dogs there without using leashes. Last week I was on my bike when a dog that was with it's owner, but not on a leash, bit me. Leashes are required for all dogs, even when in the park. If you are a dog owner, please keep your dog leashed. If you are a walker/runner/biker, please be careful! |

IT is a heck of a park. I hope some restaurants and watering holes start lining up the streets on Washington BLVD across from it. You are correct...the view from downtown is something.

You should go to Carroll Station. Great food and drinks! It's in the 1400 block of the boulevard, across from the park.

I keep forgetting about that Carol. Wasn't it closed down for a short period of time, though?
