Coming To Town...Cool places to shop?
My friends and I are coming into town next week for a show at the 8x10(10 EAST CROSS ST ) We wanted to make a day of it and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on cool funky shopping areas that are walkable for three 20 year old gals. I saw someone suggest Hampden but it looks like it would be a far walk and was wondering if there is any cool shops in the Inner Harbor area. Open for any other suggestions!

For close proximity, walk around Federal Hill and Fells Point. Both are close to downtown with lots to do.

Maximum Funky Shopping
Hi Ladies,
I hope you enjoy your show! I have some ideas for you. They will involve that you bring about $100 in cash in 5's and 10's. What about taking Taxis? In Central Baltimore Taxis are pretty common, especially on weekend evenings. They are safe, moderately priced and relatively clean. Just remember to tip; gas is expensive.
I'm not aware of any "funky" places to shop in Federal Hill, buuut you can get funked to the MAX in Fells Point! How do you get there from Cross Street? Here is a FUN way I would recommend for you and your friends:
1. Take a taxi from Cross Street to the InnerHarbor (maybe 10 bux and 5 minutes for the trip). You can also take the 20 minute walk to the inner harbor.
2. Take the Water Taxi to Fells Point. I LOVE the water taxi, and It's a pretty trip, especially in the evening. It costs about $10 per person round trip.
3. At fells point Shop til Ya drop and enjoy all the "funkiness!" I used to shop at a store called Karmic Connection when I was in High School lo these many years ago. They have incense, cheap silver jewelry and vintage clothes, baby! It may be still there. I went a few years ago and there are lots of NEW funky stores, too. Karmic Connection is up on Broadway a few blocks below the adult movie theater and the nudie bar ha ha ha. The newer stores are closer to the water near where the water taxi drops you off. Really cute stuff if you want to spend a few bucks on non-typical cool goodies.
Soo consider a trip to Fells Point for a variety of restaurants, tea shops, stores with cute useless things in them, funky clothing stores, luscious Baltimoron flavor and more! There are also muchos Bars so when you get thirsty you can stop in and have a drink.
I am not a gypsy, but I predict you will have a WONDERFUL time. As in any large city, just be safe! Don't take drinks from guys you don't know, stay together and don't get too close to any vagrants
If you want to do something kind of "nerdy" and fun, you can take the water taxi to some of the historic stops on their route. In addition to our other dubious claims to fame, Baltimore is also rich in History. I liked Ft.Mchenry when I was a kid. The science and aquarium may be fun--albeit expensive--if you have time.
Here is the link for the Water Taxi Site:

When you get back, please post if you get a chance and let us know if you had fun and how you enjoyed the show.
Kinky

I love the water taxi -- I wish it had separate rates for locals who would use it as an actual taxi...maybe there's a long-term pass I don't know about?
