Power Plant
I am new to the Baltimore area(Mt. Washington) and I want to know where to go. I have heard the Power Plant is a good place to go. I am wondering how to get there? Is it best to take a taxi or go Light Rail(if so, what stops?), and I don't really want to have to drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
please suggest any other areas that are safe and have pool tables/darts available.

Light rail is the cheapest and easiest for you. Get off at the Convention Center stop, and walk a 1/4 mile or so east on Pratt St towards the inner harbor and you'll see the Power Plant (ESPNzone and Hard Rock). Power Plant Live is separate, but close. Take a left on Market Pl., at the Panera Bread to get to bars, restaurants, and live music. Federal Hill, Fells Point, Canton, Hamden, and Mt Vernon all all great places for bars / restaurants. But you didn't really say what you wanted to do when you got there. Larry

I'm thinking the Light Rail stop would be a FAR walk to Power Plant Live and closes at some point. It's best to drive. When I go, I park on Baltimore street (across President St) for FREE.
And Power Plant is ok, if you like rock music as there are several rock clubs down there. But its not much unless you're into the college crowd scene.
I personally find Canton Square a bit more fun. Another definite drive.

Power Plant Live really isn't that far of a walk from the light rail stop. 1/4 mile or so. Maybe Miss Crabcakes often wears high heels? :-)

The distance from the Convention Center light rail stop to Power Plant Live is about 3/4 of a mile. You could always get off the light rail at Lexington Market, and from there take the Metro to Shot Tower/Market place stop.
I take the light rail from Mt. Washington to Federal Hill from time to time, and I get off at either Camden Yards or Hamburg Street and walk. Hamburg Street is a little more isolated and not as safe. But anyway, neighborhoods like Federal Hill (along with Fells Point and Canton) will have all kinds of bars and hangouts.

not sure if you've tried it yet, but for a neighborhood bar i would check out mt.washington tavern. not sure about pool tables, but they have shuffle board and i was told recently by a friend that they have the bean bag toss game (cornhole). when i lived near mt.washington, we would go there some fridays and after work sometimes. as for power plant, i'm not a big fan b/c of cover. i hate paying cover. try checking out canton, federal hill, or fells point for bar hoping. mt.vernon has some cool spots, but not as many as the other neighborhoods. although the brewer's art is there and if you like beer, it's GREAT! as for transportation, can't help you there - we usually drive. (we have friends in fed hill and canton, where we usually stay).
