Default Light rail to taxi

Hi everyone,
Next week I'll be traveling to Johns Hopkins with my daughter. I trying to keep expenses down. I plan on taking the Light Rail from the airport, the stop closest to our hotel, the Cross Key Radisson, is Cold Springs. I know there will be no taxis waiting at that area, and am not sure how safe it is to call a cab & wait. My daughter is in a wheelchair, and I feel a bit vulnerable.
If I get off at an earlier stop, that would be more populated, which one would be apt to have taxis in the vacinity?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Cheryl

Does the Radisson have a shuttle? Coldspring Light Rail is not tremdously far but it may be hazardous crossing Coldspring and manuvering up Falls Road. There is no pull off, so a cab would have to wait about a half a block down for you and that would require some coordination. Also, the station is below grade handicap access is provide by a series of "switch backs" to get up to the roadway which is on a bridge and if you have alot of luggage it could be problematic. Ideally, the hotel concierge should dispatch a cab for you. They should have a relationship with a cab company and can give you the driver's phone number so that you can contact them when you arrive at the station. Once you get the number, you may want to call them once your train gets downtown Baltimore and let them know what stop you are passing so that they can estimate your time and to minimize your wait.

The best option may be to get off at Mt. Washington Station which is the station after Coldspring.. again cab service would be in order. This is a small retail village and there is a parking lot in addition to stores.. so it will be easier for a cab to find you

I would check with the hotel and see if they can assist.

Welcome to Baltimore

Mt. Washington is a stop past Cold Spring. There probably won't be cabs waiting, but it's a safe place to call a cab and wait. Penn Station would be the easiest stop to catch a cab, but it'd be a more expensive cab ride. Another option might be getting off the light rail and catching the #27 bus on Howard St. It goes north to Falls Rd. and passes Cross Keys.

If you're going to get off at the Cold Spring Lane stop then you'll have to push your daughter up a very long steep ramp to get her to street level. Plus, Coldspring Lane is not a very safe street to be pushing someone in a wheel chair around. I live very near here. I would say get off at the Mt. Washington stop which is the next stop after Coldspring Lane. Cross Keys is in between those two stops. Just find some place safe to sit and call a cab. Sun Cab 410-685-1212. It won't be pricey since you won't be traveling far.
Just a note here, but if you are taking your daughter to John Hopkins Hospital and not the University, you didn't pick the closest hotel. Johns Hopkins Univeristy is not too far from Coldspring Lane, however the hospital is downtown on Wolfe Street. You may want to consider renting a car for the day for that. Enterprise rental car can pick you up and drop you off if you want to rent one. they're located on Sisson street.
