I worked in downtown DC, near the Capitol, for 10 years before I sought and obtained a transfer to Baltimore 2 years ago. I work downtown but still live in the MD DC suburbs. The move lowered my profile and removed me from the management fast track, but I have no regrets about my decision.
Overall I like Baltimore. It reminds me of the large cities in the northeast corridor. Of course, there's filth, crime, homeless people and degenerates, but you'll find that in any large city, including DC. The excessive property tax burden would preclude me from buying a home there, but I wouldn't have an issue renting. But I don't have an incentive to move there at this moment, because my employer allows me to work from home several days per week.

Would it be safe for me to take him out at night? Honestly I'm a little nervous after reading about crime statistics (as right now I live in the country). Would you recommend this particular area? I have a car and would only drive on the weekends (I plan to garage park). I wanted to get as much feedback as possible before I follow through with this move. Thanks so much.

I have a friend who lives in the Breco. It's a gorgeous building. However, the area its in is a bit sketchy despite being next door to city hall. There are homeless people who sleep on the street right around the corner. It is also across from Club One and 'round the corner from Sonar, another undergound kind of club that brings droves of club-goers to the area.
I'm not sure how you'd get to the Marc from there but I'd be a bit wary about walking around there at night. Daytime should be fine however.
Heard the prices at the Breco really came down!

I admit I have posted a lot but that is soon to slow down after November 4th. I am adicted to the "presidential election" forum lately. Sorry about that.
Oh--and by the way, it's about time that you admitted it.
In terms of the Breco, one man's feast may be another man's famine. I stand by what I wrote earlier. I think it is one of the better projects. It is very close to the Sunday farmer's market which I never miss. It is close to a lot of different, vibrant parts of the city.
At night, there are the club goers. That is why I suggested you see it at night. There are homeless folks downtown but they are harmless. There is also a heavy police presense in the area. I think downtown Baltimore is probably one of the safest areas in the city.

More than one person has been asked for supporting documentation on this forum? Besides you being asked by me, can you please state who the other people are that have been asked for documentation?

It's unfortunate that you are unable to understand the sentence. It really doesn't matter if it's one or more- it's just weird. Are posters who talk about what they pay for rent asked to post their cancelled checks? Are people who state they live a certain distance away asked to post their mileage records? I could go on and on. Point is, your request had only one purpose- to cast doubt on the posting. Simple as that. It was a cheap shot.

I ask for proof when something seems absurd (eg constant negativity). If proof isn't provided then I don't buy it

So how many times have you asked for someone to post a police report? Just wondering.

I look up Police stats online so there isn't a need to ask for reports.
Like others have said, some posts on this forum you have to take with a grain of salt. It's easy to spot them and the posters.

So true. Before I moved out here I read the forums and was a little worried about the move. After reading for a few months I learned not to listen to a few posters. I actually think one poster now is a negative poster from the past under another name.
