Default Driving from B-more to Washington weekday a.m.

Does anyone know the driving situation from Baltimore to Arlington (Washington) in the morning? What's the best route and what's the best time to go?
I'd like to leave around 7:00 from Baltimore; is this the peak or just before peak commuting time?

If you leave at 7 from Baltimore, you are screwed.

6:15 at the latest.

Default NIghtmare

That's also true about coming home. Unless you leave Arlington by 3.30 p.m., you might as well have dinner in Arlington and then head home. It's that bad.

Leave around 4:30- 5 am and it'll be ok. Coming home is still tough no matter when.

Don't drive. Take the train instead.

I should add that I am doing a MARC train/Metro commute from Charles Village Baltimore to Old Town Alexandria Virginia all this week, and so far it hasn't been too bad. It is two hours each way, but sleeping on the way down, and playing with the Iphone on the way back, it has been sailing by. Do yourself a favor, leave the driving to the conductor, pop in the headphones and zone out... you'll be refreshed and ready for the day by the time you hit the office.
