Default Towson

I'm seriously considering moving with my wife and 5-year old daughter to the Towson area. I therefore wanted to pose a couple questions to people who frequent this site:
1. How good are the public schools in the Towson area? Are there certain areas of Towson that have better schools than others?
2. How safe is Towson? I ask because I've heard that Baltimore is not that safe of a big city.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

Towson is viewed as one of the most desirable (and expensive) areas to live in the Baltimore area. Towson area schools include Towson High, Dumbarton Middle, and Rogers Forge Elementary. These are all regarded as very good schools. Towson is also pretty safe. Even in Baltimore City, it's quite easy to not be a victim of crime as long as you aren't involved in the drug trade and stay out of bad neighborhoods.

Elaine from Seinfeld is from Towson. Decent neighnorhood. Venture further up to Cockeysville and Hunt Valley for a little more country setting.

Towson is a great place to live, especially if you have children. Towson is located in Baltimore County and not Baltimore City - although it is less than a mile from the city line. The public schools are excellent and there are many different neighborhoods to choose from including Rodgers Forge, Stoneleigh, Wiltondale, Anneslie, Yorkleigh, Armagh Village, West Towson, Southland Hills, etc. I live in Towson and as far as the crime goes, it is pretty low. You have occasional break ins here and there - no area is immune from that. I am raising my 3 kids in Towson and could not think of a better place to be. Let me know if I can answer any questions about Towson for you.
