Default Residential Parking Laws/Issues in Dundalk

I just moved in to my first house in November. I live in a row house/Town house in Dundalk and have briefly met my close neighbors. We have adapted to the parking situation which is an "anything goes" type of parking. Trying to keep in front of your house and not in front of neighbor's houses.

Exactly 30 days ago a car we had not seen before parked in front of our house. We didn't see who it belonged to, but now the car has not been moved or even touched in 30 days. This of course causes us to park in front of our neighbors house, which seems to becoming a problem for them. We have been told the car belongs to a family at the complete other end of the block, but we don't know for sure.

I really don't want to start any trouble, but I'm not sure what to do about this car. We called the local police prescient to ask since we are new to the area and they said cars parked on the street in residential neighborhoods technically need to be moved at least once every 24 hours.

Any suggestions or insight?

While I understand your concerrn, it always puzzles me when people feel like they have the right to park directly in front of their homes. If there's no assigned parking, it's first-come, first-served. If your parking is an issue for the neighbors, well...tough luck for them. The car that's been parked in front of your house for a month, however, is another matter. If you were in the city, you could file an online 311 complaint and the city would come out and ticket/tow. See if the county has a similar mechanism for dealing with problem parking -- otherwise, your neighbor is just going to have to suck it up. If it's a big deal to them, let THEM walk down to the end of the block and raise heck with the neighbors.

Thanks for the reply. I am in no hurry to upset any of my neighbors. I've lived the last 6 years in apartments, so parking isn't a concern to me, and as long as the car sitting in front of my house isn't broken down or up on blocks in front of my house, I couldn't care less. I'll check into the county 311 options if there are any.
