Have any of you heard anything about this new school? It is a relatively new language immersion IB public school in Baltimore City. I may relocate to Baltimore short-term (one year) and I was wondering whether there was ANY decent section of Baltimore City. My daughter is in a language immersion preschool and I would love to keep her in a multi-lingual environment, but not if it means dodging bullets.

I've never heard of the school, sorry. Yes, there are several decent areas in Baltimore. You can try Canton, Federal Hill, Bolton Hill, Mount Vernon, Roland Park, Mount Washington etc. If you're planning to rent, I think a 2BR in a livable building will cost between 1200 and 2500.

Lemur - from what I gather, those areas are in the city.
A question - we are looking for such a preschool with the German language (we speak it at home). Did you run across one in finding the Baltimore International Academy? We haven't had much luck. Thanks!

It only offers French, Russian and Chinese. A bit strange that there is no Spanish.

This is the link, but there isn't much information on it.

My children go to BIA. They offer Spanish, Russian, Chinese and French. It is a good school, but very new so we have a few growing pains. Still, my children are learning lots and doing well there.

My son attends Baltimore International Academy. He is in the Chinese program. The school is wonderful and the teachers are amazing. My son just finished grade k and his Chinese is amazing. He can read no less than 500 characters. The area the school is in is fine. Depending on how much you are trying to spend, there are a few areas that are fine to live in such as, Mt. Washington, Roland Park, Fells Point, Washington Hill, Lochern, Homewood...

A previous response mentioned that the school does not offer Spanish. That is incorrect. The school offers Spanish, French, Chinese, and Russian.
