I think a lot of this depends on a person's lifestyle but I would vote for Roland Park. I wouldn't want to live there because the homes are huge and require a lot of upkeep but it is a beautiful neighborhood with lots of trees, etc.

Seton Hill... its urban, close to all the necessary things, laid back and green.

I would have to vote for Mount Vernon because it is ultra urban.

I also like other areas:
Federal Hill, Fells Point, Patterson Park, Canton, Little Italy, Charles Village, Hampden, Bolton Hill, Roland Park, Ten Hills, and others.

I think Lauraville could be added to that list as well.

Default My vote

I vote for Cheswolde, just north of Mount Washington. We moved here nine years ago after living in Mount Vernon, Bolton Hill, Cedarcroft and Coldspring. You don't have to be Jewish to live here (we are not).

I agree with the neighborhoods everyone posted here.. places like Coldspring Newtown, Ednor Gardens- Lakeside, Woodbury, Cedarcroft, Cheswolde, Laurelville, Hunting Ridge, and Waverly(...ish) are often overlooked but are because they are not near the water or downtown per say. They all offer interesting housing stock, diverse neighborhoods, and their own unique cityscapes which make them worth a look..not to mention the values are fairly reasonable...

Barante- has the City every finalized the Jones Falls Bike Trail/ Western Run Greenway that is suppose to run through Mt Washington up through Cheswolde?? There seemed to be some active resistance to it last I checked...

Default Bike

Let me make a call on the bike trail. A friend of mine was a big-time opponent.

I would pick two -- Lauraville, if you want big houses with yards and porches, or Mt. Vernon if you want stately rowhomes and an easy walk to downtown shops, restaurants, etc. I work in Mt. Vernon and love it here.
