Default looking for place between Baltimore and DC

We're moving to Baltimore in 1 month for me to work at Johns Hopkins Hospital. My husband does not have a job yet but believes he'll have more options in DC. We've thought about Federal Hill/Canton for places to live, but he's not really a city person and didn't like them. So, now we'relooking at suburbs (he is a self proclaimed suburbanite). So far we've looked at Columbia which we didn't like (all the same and we couldn't find much to do there), Odenton, the area around Arundel Mills Mall, and tomorrow we'll look in Laurel. We haven't really found anything. We're looking for somewhere that will be a reasonable commute for both of us and has a "village" type feel-so far the only place we've found is Mt Washington and that is too far a commute for him. Our price range is to rent for 1200-1300 per month, preferably a 2 bedroom. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Cool New Carrolton?

What about New Carrolton, Lanham area?

you'd be right on the Beltway, close to 295, and have the Orange line (end of the line) at New Carrolton into D.C. and the MARC into Baltimore?

Could work out well for you
