Default Moving to Baltimore July 1st, need advice for housing.

I am 22 yr old male currently in Roanoke Virginia. I work for Verizon and am transferring to the Baltimore City store (located on fleet street). My issue is I have to move the last week in June and cannot get to baltimore to have a look until the first week in June. So i'm running on a tight schedule. I have been looking at some apartments/lofts seeing what I can find thats under 1200 a month and not too far from the inner harbor area. Some of the places I've looked at are Inner Harbor Lofts, Chesapeake Commons, and camden court, ridgleys delight, along with others, but the latter two seeming to be real possibilities.

Any recommendations would be great if anyone has suggestions for specific apartments to look for, or of any classifieds to check for decent rowhousing if thats a good option.

Just like everyone looking for a safe neighborhood as well as affordable, but am open to all sorts of suggestions.

I would say get rid of your car before you come. Big savings right there. You willl save money on parking, maintenance and Insurance. All three can be more expensive in a city, and if you're 22, you can save tons of money and also have a good time in that area safely w/o a car.

Inner harbor lofts says they're giving 2 months free rent for MAY on their website. Go for it DUDE!

Nice. Anyway, you can walk to the fleet street store in 20 minutes or take the bus which is nice during business hrs along that route. If you want to go to ball games, you're also in a good area to catch a game and walk home. I suggest walking along Pratt. Baltimore St goes through the Red Light District and you should avoid that area unless well you're going there on purpose.

The Inner Harbor Lofts look nice and 2 months of free rent is a really good deal. There's a lot going on in that location so you should have a ton of stuff to do.

Enjoy the city!

Have you considered expanding your search outside of apartments/condos?

The neighborhood you'll be working in is right on the edge of Little Italy and Fells Point.

If you do a search on craiglist in the apt/housing section for "fells point", there are 112 choices for below $1200. You'd be able to walk to work within 15 minutes from all these places. Fells Point is a great neighborhood too.

As an example, here's one that caught my eye:
2 bath Renovated.

If Fells Point, a lot of the houses are on narrow roads where you can't park your car. Broadway, Wolfe, Ann, Collington, and Patterson Park are some of the main avenues of the neighborhood.
