Your car was stolen! Twice! Sorry to hear that. I have been assured that those things do not happen in Baltimore. Where do you live?

If you look at crime statistics for the city of Baltimore, you will notice that auto theft is rather low in the city compared to others. There are still auto thefts occuring but cities like Las Vegas, Phoenix, and many others including our large neighbor to the south have much higher auto theft rates than Baltimore. In fact, I think DC has one of the highest rates in the country for auto theft.

Trust me, if they want your car bad enough, "The Club" stands little chance of stopping them. The reason it works is because it's much easier for the typical criminal to go after a car without it.

Very true. They seek out the easiest. If a particular model is high in demand, the club isn't going to stop a professional.

car theft victims are to blame
I find it shocking that anyone would steal a car in Baltimore, let alone twice. I have a friend who also had her can stolen. It was her only way to get from work to school and back home. It was her fault, though, for having a car in the first place. Alas, she didn't learn and got another car.

Yes, look at apartments off of MD Avenue if you want a starter near Gate 3 of the USNA, or look to Tidewater Towns Condominiums if you want a 10 minute drive for a little more money.

you're worried about a 5 year old car getting stolen? Shees! Its hardly that bad LOL I live downtown and neighbors have a fair number of nice cars and haven't had a problem. (Smash and grabs are the real problem in the city, when fools leave their laptops and purses in plain view). You'll be just fine in Towson
|
Older cars are often stolen MORE because they are easier to get into. When older cars are taken it's typically to joy ride.

Towson is safe area, and perfectly fine to live, but a place like Ellicott City will have much more character in my opinion. If you are at all interested in being closer to the city (fells point, canton, harbor, etc),I just moved from Baltimore, and I was living in Bolton Hill which is a great great area in my opinion. There are a lot of families that live there, and it has a wonderful and quaint feeling to it while still being 5 minutes from all of the city nightlife. It can get a little hairy at night time, but its common sense not to walk around the city at night by yourself. Good luck in your move!

I forgot to mention, I paid 1,000 a month for a 2 BR(although, the bedrooms were small), 1 Bath with all utilities included. You can get some really great deals. boltonhill.org > index is a great place to learn more about the community as well as find vacant apartments.
