Default Life music in Baltimore

Hi,

I will be 40 hours in Baltimore in August (Friday-Saturday-Sunday)

I have several questions...

1) On Friday we arrive at mid-night. Is there any chance to find any bar open around 1am? Any nightlife at such hours?

2) What would be the best place to listen to life Jazz (or Blues) music in Baltimore?
Alternatively, what is considered to be a more typical music to Baltimore, and what would be the place to listen to it?

3) Are there any nice, not-so-touristic bars/pubs in Baltimore, may be also with some life music?

4) Also - where the places-to-go-out at night are better, Washington DC or Baltimore?

Thanks a lot

I guess you mean live music. I've never been there myself, but I understand Club 347 is good for jazz. You might want to check with them for how long they are open.

Check out Joe Squared in the Charles North District. The Artscape festival is taking place this coming weekend.

You might want to check out the Cat's Eye Pub in Fell's Point or the 8x10 in Federal Hill for live music. Those two neighborhoods also have a lot of bars that can get crowded but aren't full of tourists. Most bars/clubs in Baltimore with music are either going to be rock or hip-hop/"Baltimore club" music. There is surprisingly little jazz considering Baltimore was once a jazz hotspot.

As to your first question, bars in MD have to stop serving alcohol at 2 am, so most have last call and start to shut down around 1:30. Bars in DC can stay open until 3 am on weekends.
