Wait! You mean dumping your trash in an alley is not an option?

I have to say the new trash system is working quite well. Once a week trash doesn't seem to be a problem (keeping my fingers crossed) and having recycling weekly is great. I'm recycling more now

Default So Far So Good

...atleast in my neighborhood. Seems that people are getting the hang of it and.. yes I havent really noticed it impacting my regular trash. I didnt realize how much stuff I threw away that could have simply been recycled.

Havent seen many trash police (ie. the po po) issuing tickets..did see city crews cleaning alleys in Park Heights.. so the City may actually be doing what they said they were going to do

Looks like I spoke too soon.

Neighbors are starting to fight with each other:

Sounds intimidating, doesn't it.

This whole thing is mind boggling. Baltimore was my first experience in a city where trash collection comes twice a week. I only need to put mine out once a week..even with two kids in the house. The fact that recycling comes once a week now is a real blessing. What is the problem? I love the interviews they give to degenerates on the news about why the trash needs to be picked AT least 3 times a week...and asked why they don't recycle..simply shrugs. Not sure they even really understand what that means.

I don't know about your neighborhoods, but our trash men do such a terrible job that it seems like half of the trash ends up on the ground. Its absolutely disgusting after trash day now that there is at least twice as much trash left behind.

Someone left four black bags of trash on the corner by my building, and yesterday morning there was a big red sticker on the of the bags that said "INSPECTED BY"... I'm assuming that whoever was dumb enough to leave their trash on the corner will be receiving a citation in the mail. Jerks.

Exactly! I had never heard of twice a week trash pick up before moving here, and the recycling was never often enough. Our recycle output is easily 3 times our trash output.

I had some questions about the trash pick up:
1. Last week our recycle wasn't picked up from the curb. The only explanation that our neighbor had was that since the bin was next to a parked car, the workers wouldn't take it. Has anyone ever heard of this? Are they that lazy?

2. There's a public trash can on the corner of Fait and Luzerne that fills up really fast (I think someone is dumping their trash bags in it too). Does the city clean that out on trash day? Also, what would it take to get a public recycle bin next to it?

#1 never heard of that one.. .the only thing I can think of is either they did not see it or they have been accused of damaging peoples cars as they sling trash cans back and forth.. so they created an informal " policy".. if it is near a car leave it therefore you wont get blamed if the wind blows the can up over your hood and scratches the paint.....

#2 I have noticed people dumping more at bus stops.. I believe they get them on trash days..but I thought they were going to increase "servicing" these locations now because they now had extra time/bodies with the new one plus one???? I would call 311 and report it

Do you put your trash in a different location than your recycling, like an alley behind your house? Recycling now has to be put in the same location as your trash. It may not have anything to do with your situation, but I've noticed people in my neighborhood who must not be aware of the change and have continued to put recycling in front at the curb, and it hasn't been picked up.
