Default How is Idlewood?

I am wondering how the Idlewood neighborhood is doing??? Walker, Gittings, Cedarcroft, and Meridene, all running between Loch Raven and the Alameda. Thanks!

The area bounded by the Alameda on the West, the County Line on the north, Loch Raven on the East, and Northern Parkway on the South is kind of shady. While it's not the the inner city ghetto (yet), it's definitely an area in transition. Once you go East of the Alameda, things improve immensely.

A murder just occured right in the heart of Idlewood yesterday: City police probe death of man found shot in head in vehicle - baltimoresun.com

Good luck.

Default My 2 cents

Why not look at the area near the Belvedere Square shopping center, York and Belvedere. All housing types, stable integrated neighborhoods. I used to live there in the mid-1970s; the area is better today. Chinquapinque (sp?) park is a delight. An added summer bonus: Baltimore's best free party every summer Friday.

Default Eyewitness account

Just came back from Northside Baptist Church, East Northern Parkway and Cincapinque. Tonight was the final concert of the Municipal Band, which completed its 150th season! Nice oldtime music. Even sing-alongs.
The ladies of the church were selling chicken and corn. Some of better chicken I have eaten recently. Prices certainly were right; $1 for a hotdog, $2for a breast of chicken. The church is integrated and so was the crowd.

Recently there are homes that were foreclosed wihtin the area, the county section north by the 7-11 store has always been a stable and more well established neighborhood.
