If you don't have any problems at Druid Lake, you won't have any in Wyman Park in Hampden. You can access Wyman Park from the Cedar Avenue bridge over the Jones Falls at the southeastern edge of the park, very close to the Druid Lake running path and basketball courts. You could run past the old Stieff Silver building and then north on either Remington or could continue on towards San Martin drive. San Martin is a nice run, even though Hopkins' campus has jumped across the road on the park side.

Please note: women should not run San Martin Drive after dark or even daytime alone when "nobody's around"--like early on Saturday or Sunday morning. A dear friend of mine was raped in the woods just off the roadway a number of years ago.

Thanks for the route ideas, medfieldbum. I run up Falls Rd. to the lake, and have wondered about running past the Stieff building instead.

In my humble opinion, if you have a car, there are plenty of parks in the surrounding counties that are relatively close by. I know that this statement may spark controversy; however, it is my opinion that if you had a choice between a county park & a city park, for safety reasons, I would choose a county park. That being said, as a previous poster said before, if you get a creepy feeling, leave...crime is everywhere!

Patterson Park is actually great during the daytime. We're played there at a music festival and diverse groups of people from all around the surrounding areas come.

While any urban park can be dangerous at night, Patterson has the advantage of being devoid of any secluded areas. You can see from one end of the park to the other because it's not wooded. So there's less chance for criminal activity to go unnoticed except maybe in the gazebo, and even that isn't really secluded.
