Remington, Hampden, Woodbury, and Mt Washington Village ... the communities of the Jones Falls could really develop their own district even within their own individual distinct and unqueness. The corridor reminds me of Manayunk up in Philly along the Schuylkill Expressway. As new developments like this one and the redevelopment of the old Life Like factory occur the area will continue to provide a more affordable but trendier option for residents/families. Other amenities like the Jones Falls Bike Trail.. Druid Hill Park..three Light Rail Stations (Woodbury, Coldspring, and Mt Washington) will make the area accessible for residents and visitors.

This is fantastic news not just for the neighborhoods around it but also for the city. Maybe a Trader Joes??

I hope a Lowe's doesn't hurt Falkenhan's hardware store on W. 34th St. in Hampden. Great little hardware store. It's basically the basement of a rowhouse but they have just about everything. They also have a ton of knowledge about rowhouse-specific maintenance. When the valve blew off of one of my radiators and I saw that all the threads inside were stripped, I walked up to Falkenhan's and told Frank what happened. He opened a drawer, grabbed a little radiator re-threading tool, showed me how to use it, and charged me three bucks. So much better than getting lost in a Home Depot. The only thing they don't really carry is lumber and other big building materials.

Default True words

Let me second the previous poster on Falkenhans. We used to patronize Sirkis's hardware store on Falls Road, a great place that repairs window and door screens, etc. But Falkenhans is far superior. People there know what they are doing. If they don't have a certain type of a screw or implement, they will tell you how resolve your problem by using something else. A great place.

I love Falkenhans also and will continue to shop there. The folks there know their business. But Lowes in town and centrally located? That's fantastic for the large items that smaller hardware stores don't carry along with a decent city nursery! When I was without a car in Boston, I didn't buy stuff like that. It was just to difficult to get it home, etc. Now, folks living in the area can go and buy a tree, flowers, whatever and continue the sprucing up. It's a win-win situation.

Odd place for a Lowe's (Owings Mills maybe?), but JHU could use a large grocery store, the apartments, and the specialty shops.
