Default From Detroit to Baltimore

I am a suburban Detroiter in my late twenties, and I was wondering what cities/suburbs that are close to Baltimore that are accessible by mass transit? In my hometown, Mass transit is a joke. Is it any better in Baltimore than Detroit?

I'm not familiar with Detroit, but Baltimore's mass transit is worse that most cities nearby (Philly, DC). There are buses (but the routes are a little confusing unless you live directly north or south of where you'd need to work), a light rail (again running north/south), and metro - which takes you from NW of the city to SE of the city (and basically few places in between).

To answer your question - if you worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital and lived in Owings Mills - you would be able to take the metro every day and be happy with your choice.

The same is true if you worked downtown and lived directly north of the city along a light rail or bus stop.

Other than that - you're out of luck.
