Default The Wire

How accurate is this show in its portrayal of Baltimore? (For those who have seen it). I've been watching this show for a few weeks now online, and find it to seem quite realistic.... but since I don't live in Baltimore I wouldn't know, hence the question.

Despite what any stats or reports may say, Baltimore is the worst city i this country, and I'm not being bias neither.

It's very realistic but shows a narrow view of the city. Creator David Simon has said in interviews that the show is not really about Baltimore and could be set in almost any large U.S. city.

Oh not again with this topic.

Yes it's exactly like The Wire where we all buy crack from 12 year olds skipping school and get shot at on a daily basis and stuffed into abandoned houses in West Baltimore.

yes...if your rolling with barksdales, stringer bells, prop joe's, omar's, bodies, and the marlo stanfields of the world then yes it will be real...if not you'll never feel more safe....all the violence is 90 percent between people who know each other....

I think it is a pretty realistic portray of Baltimore City, but of course the Baltimore area is a whole lot more than the city. Unfortunately we do have the second highest violent crime rate in the nation. Yes, crime does happen everywhere else too, but just not on the levels that we unfortunately see here . I live downtown and there have been 4 armed robberies within a half mile of my apartment in the past year alone. ONe of these involved a homicide from a breaking and entering.
