Thumbs down Between Fells Point and Downtown

What is the area like between Fells Point and Downtown?

The reason I ask is because one night I was at a club in Fells Point and when I left the club (I was traveling alone) a woman (a prostitute I realized later) told me that if I waited for the bus I would get mugged.

So I simply walked all the way downtown, at night, alone and with a bag in my hands. Having never been in Baltimore before, I didn't know if this was a good idea or not.

When I got back to the parking garage, I saw that someone had broken into my car and stolen all of my favorite CDs I had with me for the trip.

This was my introduction to Baltimore and I'll never go back there again.

McNulty rules!

Streetchie is on a distinguished road
The general rule of thumb in Baltimore is to not leave anything in your car, ever. I've known people who've had car windows broken for a dollar in change and a bottle of water. A wallet of cd's wouldn't last 10 minutes.

As for walking the section between Fells and Downtown, you're probably ok, but you never know.

As much as you post on the Pittsburgh site, I'm surprise you would visit a city without doing your homework! Fell's to downtown is the equivalent of walking from oakland to downtown in Pittsburgh (in danger level not distance) via the bluff/hill district. Is it safe? It depends on who you ask. I wouldn't do it.
Secondly Baltimore is notorious for breaking into cars - especially with out of state plates! It's like wearing a neon sign that reads "tourist - please steal from me." Degenerates target out of state cars b/c the likelihood of someone actually pressing charges is nil.
I'm sorry you had such a miserable experience here though. It really can be a fun place to hang out.
