What are the transit police mobile units for?
I have been downtown two nights in a row and have seen this huge black command center type thing set up in different areas of downtown, it has a satellite boom and everything. Just curious to know what it's for.

My guess would be policing transit while remaining mobile.

Many Law Enforcement Agencies have mobile commands.. certainly in post 911. Typically they are used just as their name states..... an in the field police headquarters. During large events and emergencies it likely increases the field officers ability to communicate with commanding officers not to mention numerous other special ops.. cameras, enhanced communication among field officers,EMS staff, and Fire....it can be strategically deployed to a specific location. My guess is the MTA has one because of their role in transit (safety and enforcement) especially around games at Camden Yards
