Default so I moved from NYC to Bangor area...

mmkay, so I just moved to Old Town from NYC and I'm seeing some problems. I think I've traded roaches for black mold, apathetic neighbors for knife-brandishing robbers(!) and somewhat-awkward landlord for slumlord. Old Town... sounds so quaint! Where did I go wrong?

Knife brandishing robbers in old town?? That dosnt sound right at all...I have a friend that lives in OT I will have to ask him about this. Was this a single incident, or recurring? Any news articles that talk about this you can point us to? If a single incident that can happen anywhere I dont care where you are it can happen, but if recurring that is different, I would like to see something in the news about this.

Sounds like you went wrong in not looking a bit closer at the house/apartment you were moving into.

Second wrong move, is not giving the area more of a chance. According to your prior posts you haven't been in OT more than a week or two. Which is far too short of time to come to any real feel for the entire area. A side note might be in order as well... NY attitude won't fly in Maine if you expect to get along with people.

The good news is that you are only renting and can move to any other apartment anywhere you want. I know lots of people that live in Old Town and their experiences have been nothing like yours.

You have been a member on here for a few years... I see many posts where you complained about living in NY and were really disatisified living there..

You even chose to post on the NY forum about moving to Maine... However I did not see one post on the Maine forum researching Maine.. trying to find out where you should live in Maine or what Maine is like...

I am not saying you did not research it because you might have done it other ways..

However, now you're here and do not like it... so you are posting on the Maine forum complaining about where you live..

Sounds similiar.... Break the cycle! And if you didn't, make sure you choose wisely next time............. good luck

Why did you choose an apartment with black mold owned by a slumlord?

Did you not look at the apartment at all before renting it? And the last time I knew, black mold can be found in any town/city/state - that's not a 'Maine' thing.

I guess I'm lucky. I have the hat AND a jacket.
