Independent landlords - commutable distance to Bangor? (Orono, Brewer: apartment complexes, rentals)

I am relocating to the Bangor area by the end of this year. I am trying to find independent landlords (homes for rent, not apartment complexes) within a commutable area to Bangor. I'm thinking Unity, Belfast, Brewer, Pittsfield, and Newport? Anyone know of any leads? Where to look (besides the newspaper)? Thanks. Julie

There are also other small towns that may be an option such as Veizie, Orono, Old Town, Winterport, Hermon, Hampden, Orrington, Eddington, Carmel. Some of the towns you listed above are actually quite a far drive from Bangor and not really a commutable distance in the winter time. The only really resonable ones are Brewer and Newport. The others are pretty far away.
