Hi all,
I found a chunk of land in the Perry area, close to the water. Its 29 acres, and had a home there at one time. Couple of questions
Building codes? Live onsite in mobile while building? Any modular company's in area to order a pre made home?
Not sure on the availability of resources, I assume stick building would be a pain. Any ideas?
Also, access to the bay an issue? Would love to have a boat nearby.
Bud

Hi Bud,

In most places in Maine it's generally not a problem to put a mobile home on land while you're building, especially given the acreage you're planning to buy. You'll just need to drill a well and install a septic set up first, since I can't imagine that Perry has a city-wide system. It would be best to contact the Perry town office for specifics, in case they're the exception that proves the rule! It looks like Harbor Homes is a modular builder in that area. If they can't help you, I'm sure they can tell you who can. I don't know why a stick built would be any more of a pain than a modular home, since it's not like Perry is on one of the islands. Any construction company that works in that area is probably used to travelling long distances, if that's your concern.

As for your other questions, a real estate agent from the area would probably be most helpful.

Good luck with your build :-)

Default special deliw

I believe the closest modular homes are in ellsworth and brewer... I would go that route if I could. They have improved them so much that the stress is minimal to building your own. Look forward to see a home come in and wishing You all the best... nice opportunity.
