Been searching through threads for some info and was wondering if anybody can help with pointing me in the right direction.

I've seen that certain areas/towns outside of Bangor allow you to send your children to Bangor High School and I was curious if there was a list of towns or even a map that would show these areas. Looking on the official site it seems to only show the Bangor proper area.

Looking at a potential job offer in Bangor and we have a 13 year old and 10 year old. I'd like to purchase a home where they could go to Bangor schools or to other schools in the area (Orono, Old Town etc.)

It's tough finding information on which schools are better etc and I've only really found information on this forum that seems to point towards Bangor High School and possibly schools in Orono/Old Town that have good reviews. I know that school reviews are subjective on this forum but I'm trying to do my due diligence the best I can. The only negative things I have seen on here have been about Brewers school system. I'm willing to move further out from Bangor and commute if there are other towns nearby that have good school systems.

Planning to come visit Bangor soon to have a look around. Lots of family in northeast NH so I have an idea about the area but I want to come look for myself.

Would probably be renting for a year or so in Bangor/Orono/Old Town/somewhere within 1/2 hour of Bangor so I want to plan ahead and make sure I'm not making my kids move school systems again when we purchase if possible.

I appreciate how active and helpful members of this forum are!

We live in Argyle. We had the option of sending our children to either the Old Town school district RSU #34 or the Howland school district School Administrative District 31

I do not know which towns may send children to Bangor.

Towns that don't have high school may send their kids to Bangor. Most towns have the elementary schools.

Here's a link that will give you some stats on county schools

Penobscot County School Districts: Browse Public School Districts in Penobscot County, Maine | SchoolMap.org

It will not tell you if they are any good, but you can get an idea about size, have the contact information to go and see for yourself.
