Would love to Werth vs platooned Mayberry/Francisco
Also MLB.com reporter Todd Zelecki has a rumor that there is strong interest from Both the phils and Cliff Lee to work out a deal for him to come back to Philly next year. Wow imagine that rotation Halliday, Lee, Oswalt, Hamels, and who cares. But I cant see them outpaying the Yankees but he said Lee really would like to come to philly and would consider less money if in the ballpark - That would help to think Werth who and also make the bullpen less of a factor. Who knows one can dream...
I struggle to see it though as there payroll with all said and done will likely be 160+ million next year without Lee

LOL, I grew up yelling ED-DIE ED-DIE at Memorial Staduim and watching a young hometown kid at SS named Ripken. When I was 6, they won the WS. When I was 12, we had the "Why Not" season. It's hurts most of the time, but I bleed Black and Orange.
Well done write up as always, but I think you should predict ERA within closer than 1 full earned run, saying they will be between, a number +/-1 is like saying that basketball players will average between 12-22 points, kinda a huge diff.
I have a bad feeling I'm going to be disproven with graphs and math but I'll be here waiting

Well, a pitcher's yearly ERA doesn't correlate real well with a his skill level-which is why it's not a good number to use to discuss how well a guy pitched.
I used ERA as a predictor because that's what most people around here are familiar with.
The main point that I was making was that Buchholz' ERA should increase from the 2.30 he put up this season. And a half run variance from his 'true' talent is well within reason-he DID manage an ERA 2.00 runs below his expectation this year after all.
EDIT: Imagine if that basketball player was a young player who had scored 35 points a game the season before
Twins have ten free agents and they likely won't sign more than two or three of them. I am interested in if they will try to resign Jim Thome (I don't think they will) and how much his 2010 year warranted another club to offer a significant deal above the bargain (1.5M) the Twins got.
Believe their primary set-up reliever plan is to offer progressively less (starting at 4 to 5M) to Crain (currently at 2M), then Guerrier (3.15M), then Rauch (2.9M) and let the other two walk.
Won't the twins just take some WhiteSox wash outs and turn them to gold? I thought their scouting only went as far as the SouthSide
Don't be surprised to see Paulie wearing a TC cap next year, we especially like the old washed-up guys nobody else wants. It's in our benevolent nature.
