I gotta think a trade is coming, Oswalt maybe. I mean really Halladay, Lee Oswalt, Hamels, and Blanton. World Series here we come. He took less money to come to the Phillies awwwwwww pooooooooorrrrrrrr Yankees.
I was surprised when I heard this especially considering Lee was supposedly offended when the Phils didn't try to sign him long term and then traded him away. I got to give them credit though. Almost everyone thought it was a 2 team race between the Rangers and Yankees for him.
One correction though, he went for more money not less. 5 years-$120 million. That's 24 per year. No one, not even the Yankees offered him that per year. The Yanks offered more years but less per year.
Well done by the Phillies.
I will say that some guys don't have the cojones to pitch under the bright lights on the Bronx. It looks like Cliff is one of those guys.
As a Yankee fan, I will say that I am disappointed, but I think that a seven year deal would have been a noose around their necks. The Phillies did the right thing and gave him five.

Oh please. No...I think the 2 deciding factors was that he enjoyed playing in Philly, and he has a better chance at winning in Philly. The Yankees are a stuffy corporate team that probably isn't a lot of fun to play for. Plus, the Yanks will be lucky to get past Boston this year. The Yankees fans also probably shot their team in the foot with their treatment of Lee's wife.
I really really really like when the national media speculates for what seems to be forever, just to be totally wrong. With that said, I would be pretty excited if I were a Philly fan.

he's done quite well under the bright light on the Bronx VS the wankees. quite well indeed.
I'm not worried about Lee choking under the bright lights, not worried at all.
This is a great signing by the Phillies, but they need to move Blanton and Ibanez to get their payroll back to a reasonable level. Blanton shouldn't be a problem, but moving Ibanez may not be very easy.
