Vin Scully To Announce One More World Series Petition

Quote:
To: Fox Corporation
Vin Scully, the greatest baseball announcer of all time has not called a World Series Game on Television since Game 5 of the 1988 World Series when his Dodgers defeated the Mighty A's. As his career comes closer to an end, I feel that this great man and broadcaster needs to have one more chance to shine when the stage shines the brightest, The World Series. Join me in this push to have him get one more chance to crown a World Champion in the way it should always be done, with class, diginity and honor, the way he has done it for over 60 years.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

I miss Harry, but was glad he got to call a WS win even if on the radio (check out the smile at about 12/13 seconds, priceless) To me when I close my eyes and think about baseball his voice will forever be the soundtrack; as many here felt a little part was gone from all of us when Harry left us RIP Harry the K

Kidphilly's right about Harry Kalas. I'm familiar with his work regarding the NFL videos that have been made for the last few decades. When John Facenda died Kalas took over that position of narrating videos and was every bit as good.

Vin Scully. The best in the business.

No, but I'll sign a petition to have Dana Scully of The X-Files do the Series.

Does the petition want him to do it alone, without an analysis sidekick, the way he now does the Dodgers? What if there is no WS game in California? Scully does not travel with the team on road trips.

Scully's memory is failing him, and every night, he says at least one thing that is factually or historically wrong.

He might not even want to do it. He told me in the elevator to the press box in the 1985 post season (or maybe '87) that he was tired and couldn't wait for the season to be over.

Well, lets say it was 1987. You're talking 24 years ago. That's a quarter of a century almost. I don't see how that statement could carry any weight for the present day.

Harry was great on NFL Films but even better for Baseball

Maybe we need a thread of great Championship calls, many times these are the calls that are played over and over to celbrate the moments for the home team.

Though an odd one would be a non announcer (get to about 30 seconds)

Sorry to hijack the thread - think may start a new one
