Default Are the Braves and Red Sox going to miss the playoffs?

Not looking good right now for Boston since they lost earlier today and losing right now 3-0 to the Yankees which will have them tied with the Rays for the wildcard at the end of the night. The Braves lose again and only lead the Cards by 1 game for the wildcard after losing to the Nats today and the Cards beating the Cubs.

Wow, what a collapse by both teams who defintely looked like they would be in the postseason a month ago when they had a firm grip on the wildcard.

You're asking for a prediction? No and No. Yankees will knock off Rays (unless they lie down to spite Boston), and LaRussa will mismanage the Cards in Houston, as the Phillies save their good pitching for the playoffs and Atlanta wins a couple.

Phillies are trying to get to 103 wins I think

For all I care the Braves can walk off a cliff, but I'd like to see the Red Sox make it into the play-offs.

Boston must have read this thread because they just took the lead in the 14th Inning 7-4 over the yankees so they will increase their lead to a full game.

That was probably their motivation

I'll be surprised if New York wins more than one game of the three.

"Probably?" I think I heard at least 7 red sox players mention the OP by TVSG in the post game press conference.

The win in the second game by the sox was huge because now the Yankees play Tampa while the sox play Baltimore again so now they are a game up on Tampa. I don't see St. Louis catching Atlanta either.

This has obviously had a lot to do with their end of year slide - TVSG is a special assistant
