The Giants did it last year.

Holland is pitching brilliantly.

Holland has been unhittable ever since the ump announced loudly and clearly that inside pitches off the plate would be called strikes.

Boggs has been the worst pitcher in the Cards bullpen all year, and was even sent to the minors once. I don't even know why he is on the post season roster. Dotel would have normally come in then, but was wasted with an 8-run lead last night. Rzepczynski might have gotten the benefit of the Holland lefty strike zone, and then would have also been unhittable. In the post season, Rzepczynsky has been getting righties out, but LaRussa might not have noticed that.

Re: Rzep getting righties out in the post season

career
Rzep vs L: .202 batting average, 2.71 FIP
Rzep vs R: .263 batting average, 4.56 FIP

I'm gonna trust a few hundred plate appearances over a few plate appearances

Congrats to Holland - excellent pitching [with some favourable inside calls]... but nonetheless, amazing great pitching. Totally shut down the Cards,,, how many outs or hits went out of the infield? Good grief.

Incredible pitching by Derek Holland. I still think he should shave the mustache.

Series tied 2-2. Great bounce back from last 16-7 whooping last night. And Albert Pujols: 0-4!

I said in my head Napoli would take the ball out but I don't feel like I 100% predicted the future because I didn't say it aloud - although I was watching the game alone.

Carpenter and Wilson tomorrow. FOX put up an interesting graphic on C.J. earlier in the game. First pitcher in MLB history to lose the All-Star game, an ALDS game, an ALCS game, and a World Series game all in the same season.

The Rangers finally scored first in Game 4, also. They were the best in baseball in winning percentage after scoring first.

If you do that with the entire Cards bullpen, they wouldn't even be in the WS. Their bullpen is pitching way over their heads, and you have to go with they're doing now.

Remember, all I said was that the strike zone being called was giving a huge advantage to lefties against RH hitters..

He wound up using Westbrook anyway, and for a ground ball pitcher, the Napoli PA was a natural for Westbrook.

Why do I have to do the thing that causes me to bring in a worse player which makes me more likely to lose the game?

Can't I just choose the better player?

Pujols was 0-4 today. Most recently he wasn't very good. I s'pose he should ride the pine in the next game.

But his 0-4 came right after a 5-6 3 home run game. And that 5-6 game came right after a hitless game (I think. can't check the game log right now).

It's almost like recent performance has nothing to do with the next performance.
