Posts for Yu Darvish have been submitted.

We should know tonight, or tomorrow morning, what team will have the opportunity to sign him

My predictions (in order):
Nationals
Cubs
Rangers
Blue Jays
Yankees

http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/new...s_mil&c_id=mil

"Aramis Ramirez wanted to stay in the National League Central but also wanted to win, so he decided to move north 90 miles from Chicago and sign with the Brewers. "I'm at the point where I can't wait, I can't be in a rebuilding process," Ramirez said Wednesday at Miller Park after signing a three-year, $36 million deal. "I think the Brewers are built to win now."
The third baseman opted to leave the Cubs, with whom he played the last 8 1/2 seasons, and join their rivals, the Brewers, who are the defending NL Central champions.

Ramirez's deal was reportedly worth $36 million, and he will be paid $6 million in 2012; $10 million in 2013; and $16 million in 2014. There is a $4 million buyout on a mutual option for 2015. The Brewers deferred $6 million to the third year of the deal.

Ramirez is hoping he will be playing in October next season. He won his first Silver Slugger award this year after hitting .306 with 26 homers and 93 RBIs in 149 games in 2011. It was his eighth season with at least 30 doubles and 25 homers."

It's a lot of money for Aramis but the beauty of this deal is that it's very tradable and Melvin is very creative when it comes to dealings. I don't think he will be with Milwaukee for his whole contract and I think he knows that as well. However if he can win 3 consecutive silver slugger awards it will be a great pick up by the Crew.

I don't like the trade for the Red Sox. They need relievers with Pap in Philly and Bard moving to the rotation, but Melancon looks more ok, than special. Lowrie is still young enough to fulfill some of his expectations and Weiland should be on the right side of 'terrible'.
I'm sad about losing Lowrie. I think he has tremendous potential but other family members think he's too fragile and always will be. This trade makes me concerned for Ellsbury's well being. He had an MVP year and some say Lowrie was his only friend. He shies away from the big aka loud personalities of the team.

Aak! Winter trades can exciting but often worrisome.

Oh and with a heavy heart, I say good bye to Tek. He was a fabulous member of the team and probably Wakefield too. Loved them both.

This has been ridiculous. Why haven't they released the winning bid? We know they can negotiate till Tuesday but tell us who won already.

probably Sunday

The bidding ended Wednesday at 5 p.m., at which point MLB notified the Fighters of the highest bid only, not the winning team. The Fighters have four days to mull whether they want to accept the highest bid. Once they accept, the winning team has 30 days to negotiate a contract with Darvish.

There has been a ton of rumors of who it is but i've mostly been hearing the Cubs and Bluejays. Most think toronto has the highest bid.

Reds acquire Mat Latos from San Diego for...ahem...Edinson Volquez, Yonder Alonso, Yasmani Grandal, and Bradley Boxburger. I haven't had much time to think about the deal, but San Diego is getting a lot of talent coming their way. Latos is good and cheap though.

yeah that was a big haul for SD.

it will be interesting to see what Volquez can do pitching in that home park.

Latos and Alonzo both take a step back because of there new parks.
