With Cole Hamels contract up and has not signed a contract extension with the Phillies, it might be to the advantage of the California native not to resign and become a free agent.

With the Dodgers now a main player in free agent acquisitions, the Dodgers might be a good fit for him!!

LA has Kershaw to lock up long-term.
They have Billingsley signed for 2 more season.
They have Lily signed through 2013
They have Capuano signed through 2013
They have Harang signed through 2013

They have Nate Eovaldi, Rubby de la Rosa, Zack Lee, Chris Withrow, Garret Gould, Chris Reed and Alan Webster as minor league arms who should be in the majors in the next few years.

Outside of Kemp and Ethier, we don't have much in the way of hitters.

It makes much more sense for LA to go after hitters in free agency

I agree about the first move should be for a hitter. But to be a serious contender I think they need to make a move at Hamels because guys like Harang, Capuano and Lilly (and possibly Bills) are not going to be guys that IMO can win in the playoffs (without some help).

So while we could grab a guy like Brandon Phillips or David Wright to help offensively. It still won't mean much if Kershaw is the only consistent starter we got. And come playoff time Kershaw and Hamels together are a big difference in that 5 game series.

They've still got a great staff and a great team in Philly and will be good for a few more years. Why would he leave that??

Sports radio Host in Philly this morning is concerned that the Phillies may lose Hamels if they don't sign him soon.

That is one of those things that don't really need to be said.

If the Phillies sign Hamels, then they will not lose him.

If they do not sign Hamels, then they will lose him.

As long as Hamels remains unsigned then the Philles have a chance of losing him.

I'm not sure why most radio hosts have jobs. Who needs this to be pointed out to them?

He was saying that if the Phillies don't sign hamels it would be a "SMACK in the FACE" to the fanbase

The radio host wants the Phillies to sign Hamels before the end of the year. But he was ROCKED today and the phillies lost so there is no need to rush.
