Some folks are picking the Royals as high as second.
My picks are the Tigers, Rangers, Yankees, Phillies, Cardinals and Giants, with the Rays and Reds winning the first wild card spots.

Wildcard:
Red Sox, Rangers, Reds, D'Backs
World Series:
Angels over Phillies
Cy Young:
Halladay and Verlander
Rookie of the year:

Nationals finish in 2nd, Pirates finish above .500 are 2 other "surprise" picks if you will.

I have
Philly winning the NL East easily over Atlanta/Washington/Florida who all come in at about 85 wins.
The Cardinals winning the NL Central. With the Reds and Brew Crew in striking distance. Surprised if Houston doesn't lost 100 games.
The NL West goes to the DBacks with SF and Colorado the likely wild cards.
The AL East looks to be a three team race with the Rays, Red Sox and Yankees, in that order, looking to avoid hoping for the Wild Card. The Jays will be good but will struggle to .500 and Baltimore might have the worst record in the league despite not being the worst team.
The AL Central is my lock pick. Detroit is the only good team in that division.
The AL West will be either the Rangers or the Angels with the other battling the AL East runners up for the wild card.

Case Makes His Picks
I wondered if this thread would ever get going....
First, all the specific details are already on my blog page, so here's that connection: http://www.city-data.com/blogs/blog3...edictions.html
But for here, let me give you the order of finishes and the predicted winners (divisional first place is the first in order). Wild Card entrants will be denoted with *.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
East: Tampa Bay, New York Yankees*, Boston, Toronto, Baltimore
Central: Detroit, Kansas City, Minnesota, Cleveland, Chicago White Sox
West: Los Angeles Angels, Texas*, Oakland, Seattle
NATIONAL LEAGUE
East: Philadelphia, Atlanta*, Miami, Washington, New York Mets
Central: St Louis, Cincinnati*, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Chicago Cubs, Houston
West: Arizona, San Francisco, Colorado, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego
All-Star Winner: National League
ALCS: Tampa Bay, Los Angeles Angels
NLCS: Philadelphia, St Louis
AL Pennant: Los Angeles Angels
NL Pennant: St Louis
World Champion: St Louis (Yes, they will repeat.)
And there you are.

This year seems top heavy, I see very little variance in predictions on different message boards and in the media. To me that screams that things will be crazy this year, with teams coming out of no where, and media darlings like the Tigers might not perform up to their lofty projections.
