The good news is J.A. Happ looked good on the mound today. The bad news is that the Astros didn't give him any run support (well, not enough).

Rosters unveiled for 83rd All-Star Game | MLB.com: News

Yeah who needs Ryan Braun! since he is having a better year this year than he did when he won the MVP and was an all-star last year.

Ryan Braun Stats, Video Highlights, Photos, Bio | brewers.com: Team

Braun having Braun like season

Braun’s third multi-homer game of the season put him atop the National League leader board with 22, in addition to his .313 batting average, 55 runs batted in, .611 slugging percentage and 168 total bases.
Before the season, critics gave various reasons for predicting a down year for Braun, including the loss of Prince Fielder as protection and the tumultuous winter that included a positive drug test and successful appeal of a 50-game suspension that played out publicly instead of behind the scenes as designed.

Another oddity -- Pirates Jones and Walker hit back-to-back homers, both bouncing off the right field foul pole.

Even odder, if I remember correctly, Justin Morneau hit what he thought was his first career homer, but the umps got together and changed the call to a foul ball. Later in the same game he again hit what he thought was his first homer, and again the umps confabbed, and called it a foul ball.

Today in baseball...

...Andrew Cashner and the Padres will face Trevor Bauer and the Diamondbacks.

Cashner and Bauer are two highly touted young pitchers. Cashner throws the ball very hard (averaged 98MPH in his first start) and gets a good amount of groundballs. Bauer zipped through the minors striking out over 30% of the batters that he faced.

Disappointing.

Cashner left after 2 innings with injury and Bauer was ineffective.
