The Giants and the Braves went into extra innings tied 1-1 tonight. The final score was 9-4. SF scored two in the top of the tenth, the Braves came back with two in the bottom of the inning. In the 11th with two runners on, Brandon Crawford fouled a ball straight into his knee. He rolled around on the ground for a time, but he had to stay in the game because Bochy had already used his entire bench. Crawford got back in there and hit the next pitch to him about 15 rows deep into the rightfield stands. Gregor Blanco added another three run bomb to make it 9-3. Chipper Jones, who made two errors in extra innings, homered in the bottom of the 11th, but that was it.
Matt Kemp hit a walkoff two run bomb in the 12th to lead LA over the Phillies, but the Dodgers remain 3 games back.
Tonight's game at Oakland was attended by 718 Dogs in a "Dog Days" promotion by the A's. Cano extended his hitting streak to 22 games.
Apparently a world record.
It was 4-2 with one out in the ninth. Nick Swisher was batting and the A's announcers started talking about how coming into tonight's game the Yankees had scored three or more runs in 43 consecutive games. Then they mentioned that the all time record was 48 consecutive games by the 1994 Indians. And then they said it looked like the A's were ending that streak tonight. Swisher hit the next pitch over the right field fence.
More Bay Area Brandon Power today. The Giants beat the Phillies 7-2 with the big blow being Brandon Crawford's grand slam. It was Brandon Moss who got the game winner against the Yankees.
The Giants and A's are really putting their brand on this game.

Well, the losing continues in earnest for the Astros. They finally had a good offensive evening for the first time in a while, and then the pitching goes south. So, they lose 13-8 to the D-Backs. Houston is now 12-37 since starting 22-23.
It's also refreshing to see --- and I hate to say this ---- an AL East team actually going under .500 for a change (Toronto). Hey, somebody's got to at some point.
Hey filihok....I see the Uribe signing finally paid off for LA today.
