Excellent effort by the Nats fan to help out Danny Espinosa on a foulball into the stands.

AJ Ellis hit his 9th home run

More than he's hit at any level of professional baseball

Whitesox get a walkoff win with a HR in extras by Alex Rios.

Comeback player of the year isn't exactly MVP type stuff, BUT the Sox have 3 guys that are legit for the award. Dunn, Rios and Peavy. Keep it up boys!

filihok,

What are you feeling atm about the AL Central race? If you had to put a paycheck down on someone, it would have to be the Tigers right?

Lets throw arbitrary #s out there for fun.... What would you say is the whitesox chance of winning the division? 40%?

I only bet on things that I control the outcome of.

40% is probably close, maybe a bit higher.

I think the Tigers have the better team but Chicago has a 2.5 game lead and baseball-winning just isn't that precise.

Before the season I had the Tigers winning 90 games and Chicago 78.
A lot of White Sox players have performed at the high end of their projections (Adam Dunn, AJ Pierzynski, Alex Rios, Peavey).

Detroit also improved their team at the trade deadline.

So it's a lot closer than that now. Should be fun

Thanks. 40ish% is exactly how I feel. Today, on August 4th this is the first time I think the Sox can actually do it (prob not a coincidence that they had a great walk off win vs a very good team tonight) but, gun to my head I think I would still pick the Tigers. I had hopes for the 2nd wildcard coming from the AL Central, but now I am starting to doubt that as well...

Yadier Molina, fourth straight multi-hit game, two stolen bases, advanced both times an extra base on overthrow and scored, threw out three runners on the bases, two in one inning.

Molina is in the top 40 in the NL for SB, and ranks fifth (.91) in success ratio (not counting players with fewer SB and 0 CS).

The poor Yankees. Another loss when trailing after 8 innings, now 0-37. That's a pretty amazing number, considering their record.
